Many times we talk of things that we didn't get to do in our lives so far. And that's normally a complain that we make. But at the same time do we think of certain things that we did get in abundance in our early lives? Or do we just take them for granted? Just as an example ... Someone gets a lot of love, care and attention from his/her parents & family in their early days. The person becomes used to it and takes it for granted. But later on in life a situation comes wherein he has might be totally alone. At that time he complains that nobody cares for him. But does he thankfully remember how in his early days he was cared for by others?
Look at children who are very talkative in the childhood. They most of the times grow to become mature and silent adults. We also see examples of people who have been smoking and drinking all their life and then suddenly quit all that either due to health reasons or some sort of "enlightenment" as we call it. Is this all not a balance that "nature" tries to bring in?
So probably humans do have a choice. Whether to take all the enjoyments early in life and then cry over a tough future or to toil alongwith enjoyment all along so that you get a good combination of happiness and suffering!
Is this merely a philosophy to misguide people? I think no. Even though this might not be true in all situations, at least this philosophy keeps "HOPE" alive that tough times don't last and good times are approaching. Probably that feeling is evident even in today's share market scenario. Everbody was on a high last 2 years, booked heavy profits and now its time for a balance! Yet this gives a ray hope that things would only improve henceforth! So many people do realize that there is no point in crying.
In short, probably one must keep on putting in efforts - whether in good times or bad times - and then the rewards and losses always come in a balanced way - not in an extreme way.

Alas!! It is after all human nature to long for something they don't have, and if they got what they want, it is never enough!! I guess thats how nature intended us to be :o).
